RE: Quad for teen daughter ?

Honda 400ex or Suzuki 400. My son went from a built trx90 and a ttr90 to a 250ex when he was 13 (5'6" and 130 lbs - he had to master the 90s before I would move him up) Within 2 rides, he wanted more. My 400ex was perfect for him...I liked the Z400 too, but by giving him my quad, momma had an excuse to move up ;)

RE: 2008 Coachmen Adrenaline 400DS

I have a 2006 400DS. I tow it with a 2006 F350 dually, no problem. Before I bought this pick up, I towed with a 1998 Chevy k3500 dually. We have been to the Black Hills, St Anthony's, Glamis, and the Oregon dunes and I may not be fast but I have had no problems with the mountains. Overall the trailer has performed and held up well: I added an inline fuel pump for my gasline to the genny - the tank is at the back and the genny is in the front and my fuel pump was working very hard. I have had some issues with the fuel station fuel pump blowing fuses lately. We have had this trailer since January 2006 and have used the snot out of it. I would buy it again (although I would get a better deal the second time around since I read this board ;) )

RE: Coachmen Blast or Kaddy Kruiser

I haven't had the small trailer, but......... My first toy hauler was a Carson 28 ft tow-behind and the second was the Coachmen Adrenaline 40 5th wheel We started in a tent and then a 19' prowler TT before the TH. IMHO the carson was a very sturdy unit - cheap, cheap, cheap trim (grrrr) but well-built frame. It stoood up to about 15,000 miles of ugly, nasty pulling - including dirt roads and goodness knows what else (hey - I didn't know any better!!!) The Coachmen has been a champ too............ but again, I can not speak for the smaller trailers. I loved my 1978 Prowler 19' TT - it rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other way to go is with an enclosed trailer

RE: Baja - San Felipe

I spent a lot of time down there in the 80s. I would have hesitated to take an expensive rig down and it looks like things are about the same. We circled up the atcs and chained them down and slept on banana loungers in the middle of the circle with our gear locked in our trucks because things disappeared. We had a blast, but like previous posters have said, if things went sideways you were on your own. The more things change, the more they stay the same......

RE: costly mistake. 5 wheelers please read.

I dropped mine on the bed of my chevy - scared the cr@p out of me. I always do a pull test now :o

RE: Yellowstone to Mount Rushmore

We stayed at Wild Bills last summer - it was fun, but the riding was more forest road type rather than trails - my boys were a little bored. The pool was small but clean and you could ride out of the campground. Be careful, if your route takes you through Lead and up and over Strawberry Hill - that grade is a MONSTER!!!!!!!!!!! I was pretty worried about my pick up. We went to Mount Rushmore twice - during the day the first time and then we came back for the sunset ceremony - fantastic!

RE: Fuel station is popping fuses

Where do you find your fuel pump fuse? Fortunately, I have not had to look for it...... but inquiring minds need to know :) When you come in the door, the corner entertainment center is on your right. The fuse panel is the black door under the t.v. on the floor near the step. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b386/nwcutie/trailer/trailerfusepanel.jpg

RE: Fuel station is popping fuses

Thanks for all of your responses! Does this sound like a gear issue? It is a Holly fuel pump according to the sticker. I've been using it with no problems for 2.5 years, but now what happens is: - I hit the timer switch (no problem) - I go outside and flip the toggle for the fuel pump - that's when the fuse goes! I'm not sure how to open it up or take it out or what exactly I'm looking for. Is there a site with diagrams and simple directions? I need pictures - what can I say. Thanks again!

Fuel station is popping fuses

On the last trip, my fuel station kept popping the fuse when I started the fuel pump. I went through 3 before I gave up and siphoned the gas out. But I have another trip after the 4th of July craziness is over, so I need to fix this. Since I am NOT mechanically inclined, (my idea of fixing something is to use a bigger hammer :S )I figure, I need some advice. My thought is that the fuel pump is blowing fuses because its working too hard. Why? Dirty fuel filter? If so, how do I change it? I don't have any manuals, they disappeared when the DH became an ex. I would love some detailed advice with simple instructions so I can fix this before next Monday. Thank YOU!

RE: Where is the Largest Toyhauler Market?

I thought about downsizing a year and a half ago and then decided against it because I didn't want to take a bath on the adrenaline. Since its paid for, I'm doing the same as rcchallenger - keep the toyhauler till the youngest one is out of the house (he's 9!) then downsize to a really nice smaller motorhome. As long as I can keep it going til then, I'll have more than gotten my money out of it and made some awesome memories with my boys.

RE: Misquito repellent or remedy?

Muskol - stinky but worked good on the skin. Sprayed OFF over top of clothes/hair. We spent 10 days camping in alaska and only one bite on DH where he missed a spot. You don't want to use these chemicals for extended periods, but for the short term, it was very effective.

Florence, OR 6/20 - 6/23

We are celebrating school getting out by heading down to our favorite place - THE DUNES!:B Plus I get to see how the new tow rig does - first trip out - its definitely bulkier than the chevy. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b386/nwcutie/truck%20boxes/newtruck1.jpg Anyone else gonna be around then? I always like to say hi to the rvnet folks

RE: Cajon Pass Grades

Strawberry Hill outside Lead, SD was hairy scary. There was no way to get a run at it and by the time we hit the top, we were going about 17 mph with my foot pressed to the floor. My poor truck! Going back the other way, we did get a run to get to the top and then put it in first gear the whole way down.

RE: Coos Bay 5/16-5/18

Had a great time! Quads ran great, only 1 get-off (not mine :P ) Note to self, when you zip the bottom of your riding pants off to make shorts, remember the sunblock!!!!!!!!!!!!! Talk about a funny sunburn between the shorts and top of the boots - sheesh.

RE: Coos Bay 5/16-5/18

c.traveler, thank you for the link. The falls sound like a great day trip. ORbiker, I had forgotten about the Rhodie festival - I took my convertible 65 impala about 10 years ago when my grandparents still lived in Florence - had a blast. Guess I'll take 38 over instead of 126 then.

Coos Bay 5/16-5/18

Heading down tomorrow to beat the Memorial weekend crazies. Should be really nice (which is awesome as the last few trips have been riding during breaks in the rain) Anyone from this site going to be there too?

RE: Arizona Off-Roaders Kill Their Own Area

Yep! We do that too - especially when the kids are wound and the adults are not - we send the kids out with gloves and trash bags. It is amazing and infuriating what people leave! YUCKY!

RE: Gas mileage with your rig alone, and with your fiver?

10 mpg highway or town when empty 5-6 mpg towing as long as I keep it between 55-65. Cruddy mileage, but no payments - tradeoffs..........

RE: Question about pulling a Cyclone 3950

It will pull it - I pull my trailer a 98 chevy dually 454 gas. Taken it to Glamis from Washington, last summer we went to Lead, South Dakota then over to Saint Anthonys. Got about 5 mpg, went up the hills mighty slowly, but had no problems. For the steep downgrades (we had some REALLY REALLY bad ones), I just put the truck in 2nd gear and kept it between 25 and 35 mph like the big rigs. My truck has 281,000 miles on the original engine - it will need a new one eventually but I hope to get to 300,000 miles first. I plan on getting a new truck maybe next year, but I can't afford one now if I want to take the kids riding and camping.
